Freedom House, Hermosa Beach

"We aimed to harmonize with the lush environment, using pure concrete surfaces against dense forests to create a timeless, secure, and intriguing living space..."

Our recent residential design challenge involved exploring the contrasts and similarities between the solid architecture of tropical brutalism and the open, modern spaces. We aimed to create a comprehensive living space that would reconnect our clients with the lush green environment of the Costa Rican Central Pacific.

The project is influenced by two main experiences: from the mountain, the clean lines of the concrete surfaces stand out amidst the dense forest. Nature adds another layer of beauty by blending with the simple architectural design, creating a timeless and imposing structure. This style not only provides privacy and security, but also evokes a sense of mystery and curiosity upon entering.
